Memorial Day Parade
Our chapter has been selected for the 3rd position in the parade lineup—directly behind the Elmhurst Police and Fire Color Guard and the Fire Department. This is a tremendous honor and a clear recognition of the importance of the SAR during America250. A strong turnout from our chapter will reflect the respect we hold for those who sacrificed everything for our nation.
Please plan to arrive between 8:45–9:00 AM, as road closures begin shortly after. Parking is available in the deck at 135 N. Addison St., about two blocks from our staging area. The parade steps off at York and 3rd Street near Elmhurst City Hall.
Attached are the parade list, staging area map, and parade route map.
ATTIRE Compatriots may participate in Colonial uniform, SAR-branded attire, or red, white, or blue polos. Comfortable shoes or sneakers are encouraged, especially for the parade.
AN AMERICA250 MOMENT This year is unlike any other in our lifetimes. Our chapter is being given visible, honored positions in ceremonies and parades because our mission matters—and because our presence matters. I encourage you, as compatriots and as descendants of the Patriots who secured our freedom, to join us in representing the SAR with dignity, pride, and gratitude.
We will be with the Martha Ibbetson DAR chapter. There will be a wreath-laying directly after the parade.
