National Reading of the Declaration of Independence
“Sharing the Spirit of America”
Concurrent readings of the Declaration of Independence at various suburban locations. The readings themselves will all commence at 5pm across the area - and all across the country!
This nationwide effort — spanning the entire continental United States and its territories — honors the 250th anniversary of the first public reading in 1776. These will be continuations of America 250 celebrations, and your participation will help amplify our chapter’s leadership and commitment to this historic moment.
Your presence at any of these sites will help strengthen our shared commitment to honoring the Declaration and its enduring principles. Please consider attending and inviting family or friends to join you.

Fourth of July - Liberty Education Plaza Dedication
The Illinois Regent NSDAR project, the Liberty Education Plaza, will be dedicated at the Flag Day Monument in downtown Batavia, IL.
There will be a ribbon cutting headed by Madam State Regent Marria Blinn at 1pm.

Fourth of July Parade - FVSAR marching
City of Aurora Fourth of July Parade!!!
The FVSAR will be marching in the parade with the DAR. ALL FVSAR members are encouraged to come out and march and/or support the event - this is the big one for America 250…!
The parade itself will start at 10am, although FVSAR members will be gathering prior to the start time.
We will be mustering in the “RED” section of the staging area by 8:50 AM:

Parade Details
Key details from the City of Aurora:
Parade staging begins on Benton Street, from River Street to Broadway/Route 25.
All units must enter from River & Benton (use 100 S River Street, Aurora, IL 60506 for GPS).
We are in the RED Section where staging begins at 8:50 AM as noted above.
Upon arrival, Parade Entry Volunteers will direct you to your Section Leader.
General parking is available in the Aurora Public Library lot, entering from Lake Street.
The parade route steps off at Benton & Broadway, travels north on Broadway to Downer Place, then west on Downer, ending at Middle Avenue.
The Reviewing Stand will be placed in front of the David L. Pierce Art and History Center, located at 20 East Downer Place, for best viewing.

Chicagoland Veterans Campus Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

Flag Day Weekend Events
Calling all FVSAR members, families and guests: An entire week-end of events is scheduled at Cantigny Park and in Batavia!
Cantigny will have readings of the Declaration of Independence, battle reenactments, fireworks and much more - so please come out!
And on Sunday, join us in Batavia for a Flag Day Ceremony and Liberty Education Plaza Dedication event!
We need volunteers at Cantigny but especially for Sunday, June 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., as many members will be preparing for or attending the Flag Day Ceremony in Batavia.
SATURDAY - June 13 - Cantigny Park will host a full Revolutionary War Encampment from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Our SAR Chapter will staff a booth inside the Visitor’s Center from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
At 3:00 p.m., a Liberty Tree Dedication will take place — an especially meaningful moment in our America 250 commemorations. Fireworks are at 9:30 p.m.

Memorial Day Parade - FVSAR marching
Memorial Day Parade
Our chapter has been selected for the 3rd position in the parade lineup—directly behind the Elmhurst Police and Fire Color Guard and the Fire Department. This is a tremendous honor and a clear recognition of the importance of the SAR during America250. A strong turnout from our chapter will reflect the respect we hold for those who sacrificed everything for our nation.
Please plan to arrive between 8:45–9:00 AM, as road closures begin shortly after. Parking is available in the deck at 135 N. Addison St., about two blocks from our staging area. The parade steps off at York and 3rd Street near Elmhurst City Hall.

ATTIRE Compatriots may participate in Colonial uniform, SAR-branded attire, or red, white, or blue polos. Comfortable shoes or sneakers are encouraged, especially for the parade.
AN AMERICA250 MOMENT This year is unlike any other in our lifetimes. Our chapter is being given visible, honored positions in ceremonies and parades because our mission matters—and because our presence matters. I encourage you, as compatriots and as descendants of the Patriots who secured our freedom, to join us in representing the SAR with dignity, pride, and gratitude.
We will be with the Martha Ibbetson DAR chapter. There will be a wreath-laying directly after the parade.
Fort Payne DAR - America 250 Liberty Tree and Plaque Ceremony
This ceremony will honor America’s Revolutionary War Patriots with the dedication of a Liberty Tree and bronze plaque. Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli will be in attendance, along with DAR leadership and community partners. Parking is available in the north lot of Grace United Methodist Church on Gartner, directly across from the park.

America 250 Flag Raising Ceremony
There will be a flag-raising ceremony sponsored by the Naperville Heritage Society to celebrate our America 250 year at the Pre-Emption House at the Naper Settlement in Naperville, IL. The Society will be assisted by the Naperville Combined American Legion Post 43/Judd Kendall VFW Post 4873 Color Guard. There will be refreshments and educational displays. All are invited!
